| Experienced optical spetroscopist; responsibilities for the Echelle Project include evaluating/adjusting optical performance , reduction, and interpretation of data taken during the engineering phase, mediating conflict between scientific goals and design goals for the instrument. |
| Computer programming; experience in FORTRAN, BASIC, UNIX shell scripts. |
| Familiar with C; interested in learning languages such as FORTH, C++, JAVA |
| Computer operating systems; Sun Solaris 2.3,2.4,2.6; SunOS4.*;Mac OS 7.1*, 7.5*, 7.6*, 8.*, moderate experience in VMS; exposure in DOS, Windows 95, Windows NT, OS/2 and MVS/JCL. |
| Responsible for administering all computer operations at Yerkes including hardware purchasing, decisions, set-up, diagnosis repair; software ordering set-up, updates, licenses, instruction; network administration, expansion, diagnosis, maintenance of all servers, including mail service, file servers, ftp servers, modem servers, maintenance/repair of all printers; On-call for any computer emergency at Yerkes. |
